Ocean of sangi is a salt lake located behind the Bulnai mountain range. It is located between Tsagaan-Uul, Shini-Ider, Burentogtoh bullet of Khuvsgul province and Ikh-Uul bullet of Zavkhan province. The surface of the area is generally mountainous, and the lake’s water table is at an altitude of 1,988 meters, so the surrounding mountains, although high, are relatively low in height. Because the bottom of the lake is shaped like a box, the sides are steep and have many shoulders.

The water mineralization of the ocean of sangi is lower than that of Khyargas and Uvs lakes, but it is salty. It is located 240 kilometers southeast of Choibalsan city and 25 kilometers north of Wang white mountain. It is oval in shape, 3.2 kilometers long, and 2 kilometers wide. There are more than 170 salt lakes in our country, and the Sang Sea is one of the largest reserves of table salt. From 1943-1976, more than 10 Mongolian and Soviet chemical and geological scientists conducted research on an ocean of sangi , and it was determined that it is important for the country’s national economy.

At the bottom of the brackish water of the lake’s irrigation area, there is a table salt sediment with a thickness of 2-15 centimeters. During the research, it was found that it was a lake that was formed during the Early Paleolithic and was quite large. The depth of the lake was up to 16 meters, and as a result of the later transformation, ice crystals up to 15 meters thick crystallized. It has been found that the lake’s crater contains significant amounts of silt, and thanks to this, the lake’s salt reserves are enriched.
