Horse Riding-Ger Stay-Gorkhi Terelj National Park-Your guide and driver will meet you at a pre-arranged Ulaanbaatar location at 09:30 am, hop into vehicle and journey east to Terelj National Park, stopping en-route at the sacred Turtle Rock which you can climb up and hike to the nearby Aryabal Meditation Temple set on a hill. The National Park yields some great scenery which makes it a very popular weekend getaway for both locals and tourists alike. However, you will now pass through the main valley to get away from other travelers and near Terelj village cross over the river. A few kilometers further on you will stop at a family’s ger – step inside and experience local hospitality, drink milk tea, and enjoy homemade lunch, while the horses are being prepared outside. Then saddle up on for a ride up into the valley towards Jalman Mountain and along the east side of the Saikhan Saridag range of hills. Even if you are not an experienced rider, your guide will be there to assist. Return to your ger and in the evening enjoy a traditional Mongolian dish – you can help with the food preparation if you wish.
Accommodation: You will be staying in a guest ger alongside the local family.

Hustai National Park-After breakfast, say goodbye to your Mongolian hosts and set off to the remarkable Chinggis Statue complex near Erdene. Once you arrive, climb up inside until you reach the exterior staircase which runs up the mane of the horse to a viewpoint overlooking the Tuul River, Terelj & the hills of Khan Khentii – Chinggis’ homeland. Then jump in the vehicle again for the journey east to Khustai stopping for lunch in a local eatery on the way. You should arrive in Khustai National Park in the afternoon, and tonight you will be staying with another nomadic family that lives near to the park. Enter the family ger and experience the local hospitality and rest a bit, then venture into the park to see the Takhi. They often gather to feed and drink at streams in the evening and you have a good chance of seeing them up close. You may want to combine the trip with a bit longer walk in the park – in which case you should leave a little earlier in the morning. Discuss your preference with your guide. Afterward, return to your ger and settle in for the night

Manzushir Monastery-Today you head to Bogd Khaan Mountain, perhaps taking the scenic back route from Khustai, along the Tuul River. You can discuss timings and preferences with your guide. On arrival at the park entrance, visit Manzushir Monastery – see the restored temple museum, and wander around the ruins. Afterward, head up on the hill trails to the summit. Once back down, board the vehicle and drive back to Ulaanbaatar where you will be dropped at a location to suit you.
Accommodation: Accommodation is not included on this day. You will be dropped off at the prearranged location.
